CALIFORNIA MEN INDICTED FOR DUMPING HAZARDOUS WASTE
Jerry Dean Randrup, Sr. and his two sons, Jerry Dean Randrup, Jr. and Samuel Raymond Randrup, all of Fresno, Calif., were indicted on July 23, in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in Fresno for illegally disposing of hazardous waste in violation of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Jerry Randrup, Sr. owned and operated Randrup Painting and Randrup Fire Restoration, where he employed his two sons. The three defendants allegedly dumped used paint solvents on residential land in Coarsegold, Calif. Three hundred thirty-six tons of soil had to be removed to clean up the contamination at the dump site. If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000. The case was investigated by EPA, the FBI, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and the Madera County Department of Environmental Health. R-102 ###
