EPA ADDS AND PROPOSES NEW SITES TO THE
SUPERFUND NATIONAL PRIORITIES LIST


EPA is proposing 14 new sites to the National Priorities List (NPL) and adding nine. The NPL informs the public of uncontrolled hazardous waste sites that warrant further investigation to determine if they pose risks to human health and the environment. Sites that are placed on the NPL are eligible for long-term “remedial action” financed under the Superfund Trust Fund. The proposed sites are: Pemaco Maywood, Maywood, Calif.; Evergreen Manor Ground Water Contamination, Winnebago County, Ill.; Indian Refinery-Texaco, Lawrenceville, Ill.; Delatte Metals, Ponchatoula, La.; Davis Park Road TCE, Gastonia, N.C.; Federal Creosote, Manville Borough, N.J.; Route 561 Dump, Gibbsboro, N.J.; North Railfoad Avenue Plume, Espanola, N.M.; Computer Circuits, Hauppauge, N.Y.; Lehigh Valley Railroad, Le Roy, N.Y.; Fox River NRDA/PCB Releases, Green Bay, Wisc.; Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, Md.; Brandywine DRMO, Brandywine, Md.; and Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, Virginia Beach, Va. The sites added to the NPL include: Solitron Microwave, Port Salerno, Fla.; Camilla Wood Preserving Co., Camilla, Ga.; Cornell Dubilier Electronics Inc., South Plainfield, N.J.; LCP Chemicals Inc., Linden, N.J.; Sharon Steel Corp., Hickory Township, Penn.; Jasper Creosoting Co. Inc., Jasper County, Texas; State Marine of Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas; Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C.; and Fort George G. Meade, Odenton, Md.
