EPA Administrator to Visit Schools in Portland, ME and Portsmouth, NH Monday

BOSTON - EPA Administrator Christie Whitman will be visiting elementary schools in Portland, Maine and Portsmouth, NH on Monday, Sept. 23, to discuss children’s health issues and steps that are being taken to improve environmental quality at schools across New England and the country.

Joined by state, local and school officials, Whitman will be touring the following schools where she will be announcing grants to the American Lung Association of Maine and the State of New Hampshire.

Portland, Maine

      8:45-9:30 AM – Riverton Elementary School, 1600 Forest Ave., Portland

      Speakers will include: Portland Schools Superintendent Mary Jo O’Connor, American Lung Association of Maine President Arthur Cerullo and U.S. Senator Susan Collins

      Directions: Take I-95 North to Exit 8; Take a right off exit; At third light take a right; Drive one mile; On the right you’ll see a small fire station where you should turn right; The school is behind the station.

Portsmouth, NH
      10:30-11:30 AM - Little Harbour School, 50 Clough Drive, Portsmouth

      Speakers will include: Little Harbour School Nurse Priscilla Santiago and Portsmouth School District Business Administrator Peter Torrey

      Directions: From the Portsmouth Traffic Circle off I-95; Go around the rotary and turn onto the Route 1 bypass south; At third stop light (a college and Dodge dealership on right), take a left, go up a hill and it will connect you to Lafayette Road; Turn left; Take right at stop light onto South Street; Follow through two blinking yellow lights, one stop light and after passing cemetery turn right at next blinking light onto Clough Drive; School will be ahead
