EPA To Join Hudson County Executive, State Officials And Local Leaders In Harrison For National Brownfields Redevelopment Ceremony

(#99143) NEW YORK, N.Y.-- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Jeanne M. Fox will join Hudson County Executive Robert C. Janiszewski, Harrison Mayor Raymond McDonough and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection officials in a check presentation ceremony for EPA's national Brownfields Economic Revitalization Initiative. The event will take place at an abandoned gasoline station and auto repair shop with brownfields potential, at 104-108 Harrison Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 1999.

The goal of the Brownfields Pilot Program is the renewal of industrial and commercial facilities where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination. There are more than 300 communities nationwide that are now participating in the National Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative, which promises to stimulate economic redevelopment through environmental cleanup.

Directions: From the New Jersey Turnpike....Take Exit 15W. Immediately after paying the toll, stay to the extreme right and bear right off the first exit. Do not get on 280. Follow the road which will bring you to Harrison Avenue. Drive approximately 2-2 ½ miles to the site at 104-108 Harrison Avenue.
