Norman, Okla. Business Honored for Its Energy Efficiency

      The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will honor one of the most energy- efficient small businesses in the region, Subway Sandwiches & Salads, Inc. of Norman, Oklahoma, with the Energy Star Small Business Award for its exemplary energy efficiency.

 

      Subway Sandwiches & Salads, Inc. franchisee Steve Kaplan saved money and prevented pollution through energy efficiency upgrades.  Mr. Kaplan's Subway restaurants have prevented release to the environment of more than 353,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, more than 3,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide and more than 1,300 pounds of oxides of nitrogen (Nox).

      The Energy Star Small Business Award recognizes those small businesses that effectively reduce energy usage while cutting costs.  This is the first year the EPA has nationally awarded small businesses specifically for their energy efficiency efforts.
