U.S. EPA REORGANIZES PRESS OFFICE; RELEASES AVAILABLE BY E-MAIL

U.S. EPA NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS:

    (San Francisco) -- To better serve the news media, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reorganized its western regional press office along geographic lines.  The regional office covers California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii as well as the Pacific Islands territories, such as American Samoa and Guam. U.S. EPA  also invited reporters to subscribe to its e-mail distribution list to automatically receive press releases from the regional office.

     In the newly reorganized office, each press officer covers an assigned geographic area, as follows:

Leo Kay, (415) 744-2201, covers Northern California, including Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Joaquin, Calaveras and Alpine Counties, and all other counties north to the Oregon border.

Dave Schmidt, (415) 744-1578, covers Central California, including Monterey, San Benito, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, and Mono Counties, and other coastal, San Joaquin Valley, and inland counties as far south as Santa Barbara, Kern, and San Bernardino Counties.

Randy Wittorp, (415) 744-1589, covers the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, including Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties.

Sonia Altieri, (415) 744-1588, covers the California border counties of San Diego and Imperial, plus all of Arizona.

Lisa Fasano, (415) 744-1587, covers Nevada, Hawaii, and Pacific Islands under U.S. jurisdiction, such as American Samoa and Guam.

     News releases from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's regional office in San Francisco are now available via e-mail on a real-time basis.  To subscribe to the distribution list, send an e-mail message to the following address: listserver@unixmail.rtpnc.epa.gov. Include in the body of the message a line that reads: SUBSCRIBE <space>  USEPAR9NEWS <space> <insert your first name and last name with a space in between>.  For example: SUBSCRIBE  USEPAR9NEWS  BILL  SMITH

     In addition, regional news releases are available via our Web site, usually within a few hours of their issuance, at: https://www.epa.gov/region09.
