12 Southeast Facilities Join National Environmental Performance Track Program

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today 11 new facilities and one National Park ferry service have joined the National Environmental Performance Track Program. Performance Track rewards facilities that voluntarily exceed regulatory requirements, implement systems for improving environmental management, work with their communities, and set three-year goals for improvements in environmental performance. New Performance Track members in the Southeast are: Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. - Russellville Chemicals, Russellville, S.C.; Montenay Bay, Panama City, FL; Motorola Inc., Plantation, FL; Arizona Chemical - International Paper, Panama City, FL; Rockwell Collins Avionics, Inc., Melbourne, FL; Arizona Chemical Company - International Paper, Savannah, GA; Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Marietta, GA; Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America, Newnan, GA; 100% Recycle Paper Mill, Temple-Inland Inc., Maysville, KY; International Paper, Vicksburg Mill, Redwood, MS; Ocoee Hydro Plant Group, Tennessee Valley Authority, Chattanooga, TN; and Yankee Freedom II - Dry Tortugas National Park Ferry, Key West, FL, the first ferry service to join the program. Only facilities with a record of sustained compliance with environmental requirements are eligible to participate in this program. Performance Track recognizes these companies as environmental leaders because they deliver environmental results beyond what is expected or required. These companies demonstrate on a daily basis that economic prosperity and environmental protection can go hand in hand. Performance Track members represent a cross-section of the economy: electronics, medical and chemical products, machinery, pharmaceuticals, transportation equipment, and wood products. Participating facilities receive a low priority status for routine inspections; reduced regulatory, administrative and reporting burdens; and public recognition. These benefits translate to greater efficiency and reduced costs for both Performance Track facilities and environmental regulators. Performance Track now represents 45 states and Puerto Rico.
