U.S. EPA to host disadvantaged business public hearing

     Event takes place Jan. 20 in San Francisco

    SAN FRANCISCO - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in an effort to increase the participation of small, disadvantaged, or women-owned businesses, invites the public to attend a public hearing on the agency's upcoming proposed "Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Rule."

    This event - free and open to the public - will take place at:
     U.S. EPA Region 9 Office
     1st Floor Conference Rooms
     75 Hawthorne Street
     San Francisco, CA
     Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004
     9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    "We want the public to let us know if we are taking appropriate steps to ensure that small, disadvantaged businesses are given the opportunity to receive their 'fair-share' of EPA-funded procurement," said Joe Ochab, the small business advocate for the EPA's Pacific Southwest Office in San Francisco.

    The EPA is seeking public comment on its proposed "Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Rule" to improve its current Minority Business Enterprise/Women's Business Enterprise Program.
