EPA TO RECOGNIZE 15 NEW ENGLAND FACILITIES THAT DEMONSTRATE ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

BOSTON - Thirteen companies and two federal facilities in New England who have demonstrated a commitment to environmental leadership will be honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at a ceremony tomorrow between 10 am and 3 pm at the JFK Library in Boston.

The organizations, representing five New England states, are all being honored as part of the EPA's StarTrack program, which recognizes facilities that conduct independent audits and exhibit effective environmental systems. Companies being honored are from Seabrook, Londonderry, Hudson, Nashua, Litchfield, Manchester, Merrimack and Loudon, NH; Salem, Chicopee, Attleboro, Cape Cod and Millis, Mass.; Kittery and Jay, Maine; Clinton, Stamford and Hartford, Conn., and North Kingstown, RI.

Mindy Lubber, EPA's New England Deputy Administrator, and Robert Varney, commissioner of the NH Department of Environmental Services, will make opening remarks at the event.
