WILKES-BARRE, PA., MAYOR THOMAS MCGROARTY TO DISCUSS NEW ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES IN PRESIDENT CLINTON’S
1999 STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS


U.S. EPA Deputy Administrator Peter D. Robertson will join Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas D. McGroarty at the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., City Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. to discuss the impact of new environmental initiatives in President Clinton’s 1999 State of the Union Address on residents of Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and other communities across the nation. Among the issues Robertson will address are Clinton Administration efforts to build livable communities for the 21st Century, including the Better America Bonds initiative which will provide tax credits to help communities to preserve and enhance green spaces, protect water quality, and clean up brownfields -- our nation’s abandoned industrial properties.
