FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
No. 08-OPA095

CHICAGO (May 23, 2008) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has ordered three southeastern Illinois oil producers to submit information on their oil production operations within 15 days.

The companies are Loeb Oil Co., Route 1 Country Club Road, Lawrenceville; Little D Drilling Inc., RR 1, Box 45, Saint Francisville; and Three Star Drilling and Producing Corp., 201 S. Christy, Sumner.

EPA alleges the companies have violated the Clean Air Act by failing to answer requests for information issued last November under the authority of the act.

The orders will not take effect until 15 days after the companies receive the orders to allow each company an opportunity to meet with EPA about the alleged violations. They have 10 days from receipt of the orders to schedule a conference with the Agency.

Information on EPA Region 5's air enforcement program is at www.epa.gov/region5/air/enforce/index.html. Potential environmental violations may be reported to www.epa.gov/compliance/complaints.
