Browner to Announce Environmental Education Grant to Help Baltimore City Schools

EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will teach a 4th grade class at Yorkwood Elementary School in Baltimore, Md., about environmental challenges facing the nation, including global warming, on Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. Administrator Browner’s class is part of the Clinton Administration’s Back-to-School initiative to ensure that children receive the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in the 21st Century.
Before teaching the class, Administrator Browner will also announce $3 million in environmental education grants to schools across the nation, including a grant going to Irvine Natural Science Center in Stevenson, Md. The Center will use the grant to train high school volunteers to lead elementary school students at over 20 Baltimore area schools and community centers through hands-on environmental activities.

      Directions: Take 95 North through Harbor Tunnel to 695 West Towson. Take Loch Raven South Exit and follow Loch Raven Blvd. until it meets Hillen Road. Turn left onto Hillen Road and go a quarter of a mile on Hillen Road to Wave Worth Alleyway. Take a right onto Wave Worth Alleyway (right before the wooded area) and follow it until you reach the parking lot behind Yorkwood Elementary.
