PUBLIC MEETING PLANNED TO DISCUSS CCA-TREATED WOOD

David Deegan 202-564-7839 / Deegan.Dave@epa.gov

On June 7, EPA will host a public meeting to discuss ways to strengthen the current Consumer Awareness Program for CCA-treated wood. This meeting will also cover a recent proposal developed by the wood treatment industry to improve dissemination and clarity of information regarding proper use and handling precautions for all purchasers and users of CCA-treated wood products. The public meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hilton Crystal City, 2399 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Va. This meeting is a follow-up to two meetings held on May 9, also held to discuss the Consumer Awareness Program for CCA-treated wood. The first meeting was with public interest and environmental groups, and the second meeting was with wood-treatment manufacturers and retailers. Minutes and a list of attendees from the two May 9 meetings are available through EPA’s public docket. Additional information on the June 7 meeting is available on EPA’s website at: www.epa.gov/pesticides under "What's New" and "Upcoming Meetings."
