Clean Water means Critical Health, Economic and Livability Benefits for American Communities

(DALLAS – May 9, 2011) A tour and media availability of San Antonio’s Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and San Antonio River Authority (SARA) announced today. The $245.7 million Mission Reach project is transforming an eight mile stretch of the San Antonio River into a quality riparian woodland ecosystem. This unique project restores reverie features and riparian woodlands, reintroduces native plants, enhances aquatic habitat, and reconnects cultural and historical features.

Recognizing the importance of clean water and healthy watersheds to our economy, environment and communities, the Obama administration last month released a national clean water framework that showcases its comprehensive commitment to protecting the health of America’s waters. The Mission Reach Project tour and media availability will highlight this commitment.
