FOR RELEASE: FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 1997

MISSOURI CHEMICAL COMPANY SENTENCED FOR PESTICIDE VIOLATIONS

On Dec. 20, 1996, Form-A-Chem, a registered pesticide manufacturing company in St. Louis, Mo., was sentenced to five years probation and a $30,000 fine for falsely informing the EPA that it was not producing "Chlor Concentrate," which is a pesticide that has been developed for use in the restaurant industry. In addition, Form-A-Chem also sold Chlor Concentrate without proper registration, which is a violation of the Federal Fungicide, Insecticide and  Rodenticide Act. The case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of EPA's Region VII Pesticides Branch.
