MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY NOW INVOLVES 34 STATES
On Oct.5, EPA invited nine states to join the One Stop program, which supports information management and technology reform projects in the states. The invitation went to Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and South Carolina. The One Stop program is so named for the vision of a fully integrated, seamless information system that allows reporting and retrieval of information through a single, universally accessible data base. Each of the nine invited states are eligible for $500,000 grants to bolster and leverage their own information technology investments. The collaborative effort by the States and EPA will create a seamless, high quality environmental information network across the country that allows users to easily submit, access, manage and display information and to do so at a reduced cost. The other states participating in the program are Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The goal is to offer this level of support to all 50 states.
