The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett have scheduled a press conference to discuss the Administration's proposed Better America Bonds.

Rep. Doggett is co-sponsoring the House legislation to create these bonds. Better America Bonds will provide the resources local communities need to preserve and improve their environments without creating new taxes. Under the proposal, states, tribes and local governments will be able to issue the no-interest bonds. Instead of interest, investors will receive tax credits.

Better America Bonds will offer a creative way for states and communities to preserve open space, create parks, preserve or create wetlands, and return brownfields to productive use. All decisions about how the bond revenue will be spent to make communities more livable will be made at the state or local level.
