100% of WY Counties Report Drinking Water Quality

Denver -- For the first time ever, the state of Wyoming has completed 100 percent of its required Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs). The Wyoming Association of Rural Water Systems helped local communities and water systems to prepare the reports for the 1998 water year, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Water Act. Through the efforts of the Wyoming Association of Rural Water Systems, every water customer in WY will be informed about the quality of the water they use in their homes.


Water suppliers that serve the same people year-round must prepare annual water quality reports (CCRs) for their customers. The first reports were due by October 1999, and from now on they will come out each year by July. (The 1999 reports will be due this July). The reports tell where drinking water comes from, what's in it, and how you can help protect it. These consumer confidence reports, which EPA developed in consultation with water suppliers, environmental groups, and the states, will enable Americans to make practical, knowledgeable decisions about their health and their environment by providing customers with a snapshot of their drinking water supply.
