U.S. EPA Honors 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partners of the Year in Kentucky
ATLANTA (April 9, 2019) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 Office and the U.S. Department of Energy are honoring five ENERGY STAR partners in Kentucky for their outstanding contributions to public health and the environment. These enterprises have earned ENERGY STAR Awards for demonstrating national leadership in cost-saving energy efficient solutions. They are among the 183 ENERGY STAR Award Winners nationwide that will be honored in Washington, D.C., on April 11.
“I applaud the 2019 ENERGY STAR Award Winners,” said EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation Bill Wehrum. “Their innovation and leadership enhance America’s economic competitiveness. Reducing costly energy waste improves air quality and public health while protecting the environment.”
“I congratulate our ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year for their leadership and commitment to taking action that will help us leave a healthier planet for future generations,” said EPA Acting Region 4 Administrator Mary S. Walker. “Additionally, their efforts demonstrate that energy efficiency is a smart business decision that supports their bottom line, and helps their customers save money and energy.”
For more than 25 years, EPA’s ENERGY STAR program has been America’s resource for saving energy and protecting the environment. Since 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners helped save American families and businesses nearly 4 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity and associated reductions of over 3 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases. In 2017 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans save $30 billion in energy costs.
2019 ENERGY STAR Award Winners in Kentucky include:
Big Ass Fans (Lexington)
Big Ass Fans, a manufacturer of overhead and directional fans and LED lights for industrial, commercial and residential use, consistently produces products that are top-of-the-line in terms of energy efficiency, and is being recognized as a leader in producing high efficiency fans that are both effective and aesthetically pleasing.
Bullitt County Public Schools (Shepherdsville)
Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) serves more than 13,000 students and 27 school and administrative buildings. In 2018, the school district sustained their energy management program making significant efforts to improve energy efficiency across the district and created a productive learning environment for students.
Olin Brass (Louisville)
Olin Brass is a manufacturer of copper and copper-alloy sheet, strip, foil, tube and fabricated components in North America. The company is being recognized for developing an energy management program from the ground up, using ENERGY STAR energy management guidance and tools.
Schneider Electric. (Louisville)
Schneider Electric provides energy management and automation services for clients worldwide. In the past year, the company has advanced the market presence of ENERGY STAR through benchmarking and certification and integrated energy efficiency strategies and best practices into its services for commercial and industrial property managers throughout North America.
Scott County Schools (Georgetown)
Scott County Schools educates more than 9,000 students across 14 schools. Scott County has utilized ENERGY STAR tools and resources to make improvements in energy efficiency and reduce operating costs as a key component of its energy management plan.
