Tomorrow: EPA to Host Binational Meeting in El Paso
DALLAS – (May. 11, 2016) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Mexican Environment and Natural Resources Secretariat (SEMARNAT) is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the creation of the binational Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) meeting for the improvement of air quality in the Paso Del Norte Air Basin. The meeting will take place in the Cotton Patch Conference Room at the El Paso Environmental Services, 7968 San Paulo, El Paso, Texas, from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
On May 7, 1996, the United States and Mexico signed an unprecedented agreement that defined the binational Paso del Norte air basin and created the JAC. The JAC includes business leaders, air quality experts, academicians, environmentalists, and public health officials working together to solve air pollution problems in the region and develop a comprehensive framework to manage an international airshed and improve air quality.
