(Lenexa, Kan., Sept. 11, 2015) - On Saturday, Sept. 12, EPA Region 7 Acting Administrator Mark Hague will speak at the "Big Muddy Cleanup," a one-day Missouri River cleanup sponsored by Healthy Rivers Partnership in Parkville, Mo.

Hague will speak about the importance of clean water, which is vital to our health, communities and economy, as well as the importance of strong partnerships to protect local rivers, streams, lakes, and wetlands.

During the cleanup, boats will ferry volunteers to the river banks to pick up trash that has washed ashore. Other volunteers, including youth groups, will pick up trash along the banks, trails and parking lots.

WHAT: Remarks at Missouri River Cleanup

WHEN: 8:45 a.m. Central Time, Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015

WHERE: Platte Landing Park, Parkville, Mo. Take I-29 to Highway 45 west, then Highway 9 south. Take 1st Street (in Parkville) west, then Main Street south across Rush Creek to the entrance of the park. The cleanup will take place at a new boat ramp, and public parking is available in designated areas at the west end of the park.
