SAN FRANCISCO –On Thursday, November 17, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will host a public meeting at the Shiprock Chapter House to discuss the designation of the Bonita Peak Mining District as a site on the National Priorities (Superfund) List.  The meeting will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Shiprock Chapter House.

The Bonita Peak Mining District includes Gold King Mine and 47 other historic mines or mining-related areas in southern Colorado. EPA and Navajo Nation EPA staff will be present to speak with residents about on-going work to address abandoned uranium mines throughout Navajo Nation.
