SAN FRANCISCO – On Thursday, November 3, U.S. EPA Acting Regional Administrator Alexis Strauss will be joined by state and local leaders to spotlight three Oakland businesses for their efforts to “go green.” EPA will also announce the award of a new Pollution Prevention grant to support the expansion of the California Green Business Network, a non-profit organization that helps businesses, including those in economically-disadvantaged communities, adopt green practices.

To receive Green Business certification, companies must show how they conserve resources and prevent pollution, such as using LED lighting and purchasing ENERGY STAR products. To date, 3,396 California Green Business participants have saved more than $41 million and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases by more than one million tons.
