MEDIA ADVISORY: U.S. EPA to Announce Funding for Revitalization of Industrial Waterfront

SAN FRANCISCO –  Tomorrow, May 31, U.S. EPA Acting Regional Administrator Alexis Strauss will announce funding to assess and clean up contaminated properties along Pittsburg’s industrial waterfront, as well as in other Bay Area locations. EPA will be joined by federal and local officials to highlight the importance of transforming vacant and unused properties into productive sites benefiting the community and local economy.

EPA’s support will advance the Northern Waterfront Economic Development Initiative, which is a development strategy adopted by private and public entities along the Carquinez Strait. The goal of the initiative is to create 18,000 new jobs by 2035.
