BOSTON – EPA invites members of the Cumberland, R.I. community to attend a presentation and "community visioning" session, which is designed and intended to gather community input on the future reuse of the Peterson/Puritan, Inc. OU2 Superfund Site in Cumberland and Lincoln, R.I.

The meeting will be held on May 11, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Public Library, 1464 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, R.I. The meeting will be co-hosted by EPA, along with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) and Blackstone Heritage Corridor, Inc. This event is part of the Peterson/Puritan, Inc. OU2 Superfund Site reuse planning process. The forum is intended to provide an opportunity for community members to:

  • Hear about the next stage in the cleanup and remediation process, site reuse visioning identified in previous workshops and plans, and considerations affecting recreation, aesthetics, historic and cultural reuse opportunities for this site.
  • Contribute to the reuse planning process.
  • Help identify locally preferred options for the future of the site.
