ATLANTA – Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) entered into a partnership with Edward Waters College to enhance environmental policy work, and offer internship opportunities for students interested in environmental careers.

EPA Regional Administrator Heather McTeer Toney, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Edward Waters College President, Nathaniel Glover, formalizing the relationship. The signing was held on the campus of Edward Waters College.

“Partnering with institutions like Edward Waters, provides a link to education, outreach and hands-on work experience,” said Regional Administrator Heather McTeer Toney. “The signing of this MOU further strengthens educational and environmental ties and provides a forum for discussing emerging environmental issues and interest in environmental careers with future leaders.”

Through this MOU the partners express their intention to strengthen the ties between the EPA and Edward Waters with the aim to enhance research, knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, career development, leadership in environmental sciences and policy research. This MOU is also intended to help support the college’s effort to address the environmental degradation and health disparities that exist in the underserved community of Health Zone 1 in Duval County, Fla.
