EPA Releases Spring 2018 Regulatory Agenda
Furthers Commitment to Strong Regulatory Reform, Advancing the President’s Agenda
WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with the rest of the federal government, released its Spring 2018 Semiannual Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions. The Spring 2018 Regulatory Agenda provides updates to the public about EPA’s planned regulatory activity to support the Agency’s core mission to protect human health and the environment.
“This latest regulatory agenda reflects the Trump Administration’s commitment to reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens,” said EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. “EPA will continue to pursue actions that protect public health and the environment, while also promoting economic growth.”
EPA’s Spring 2018 Regulatory Agenda furthers the Administrator’s commitment to strong regulatory reform in line with President Trump’s agenda. It shows continued progress in finalizing two deregulatory actions for each final regulatory action – as required by President Trump’s EO 13771.
There are a total of 59 deregulatory actions in the Spring 2018 Regulatory Agenda, 11 of which are new. In total, the agenda outlines 38 actions appearing for the first time. It includes 10 actions that have been withdrawn and another 24 that have been completed since the publication of the Fall 2017 Semiannual Regulatory Agenda.
As required by Executive Order 12866, the Semiannual Regulatory Agenda was released as part of the government-wide Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions. EPA’s plan describes regulatory and deregulatory actions that are under development or review and rules expected to be proposed or finalized with the next year. This commonsense, balanced approach carefully protects both public health and the environment while curbing unnecessary regulatory burdens that stifle economic growth for communities across the country.
