This was to insure that our analyses were using land area within the hucs that also fell within the region. In addition, we edited the boundaries of those hucs around the Chesapeake Bay to match the shoreline existant in our landcover data. This insured that all landcover within every huc was accounted for. The indicator values reported here were calculating using different methods, many of which have separate surface maps as part of this dataset. The summary values were computed using one of two methods: Vector Data: for vector information, many of the summaries were computed using tabular information in the INFO database, i.e. each huc had associated values that could be summarized numerically, and the results stored in this coverage. Raster Data: for raster data, we first rasterized the huc map. This grid version of the map was then combined with the raster data in question, creating a table with two values: one for the huc-id, and one for the indicator being calculated. Info was then used to summarize the values, and record the results in this coverage.
