Biodegradation

Biodegradation was represented in the transport equation by a first order rate constant

with l as the first order rate constant.

Although commonly used the first order rate constant doesn't represent the fundamental biological processes that cause loss of contaminants. It (the rate constant) may represent these processes, however, accuratly enough for use in models.

Calculator icon Half lives and rate constants are related to each other and the calculator converts half lives to rate constants.
