Technical Assistance to Support the EPA's National Survey of Wetland Condition
Current wetland research efforts at AED supported the short-term goal of conducting a National Survey of Wetland Condition in 2011. AED research and technical efforts will include assisting in the design of the National Wetland Survey strategy and recommending appropriate and practical tools to a conduct a scientifically sound, large-scale survey. Some of our research efforts will include the calibration and verification of rapid assessment methods and tools that are recommended for the National Wetland Survey. AED works in partnership with States, Tribes, universities, non governmental groups, EPA Regions, and the Office of Water, particularly the Wetlands Division. Prior AED wetlands research efforts helped build a sound scientific foundation for OW wetland assessment guidance provided to the States (US EPA 2006. " Applications of Elements of a State Water Monitoring and Assessment Program for Wetlands”).
