Background: On Wednesday, March 30th, residents in Richmond will join the Richmond Community Redevelopment Agency, Community Housing Development Corporation, Eden Housing and supporters to celebrate the start of demolition and environmental clean up at the Miraflores site in Richmond. This former flower nursery will be developed into a new housing community for Bay Area residents. The proposed Miraflores Housing Development includes; more than 200 housing units in a sustainable, LEED certified community; creation of more than 300 jobs; preservation of historic structures; and creek restoration within a four-acre greenbelt. Miraflores, a public-private partnership, will provide approximately 150 market-rate homes for sale and 80 apartments affordable to seniors with very low incomes.
