Local Governments Initiating Conservation for Sustainability (LOGICS)
For Local Governments
On this page
What is LOGICS?
LOGICS is a program of federal, state government, non-profit and utility partners who provide tools and steps for local governments to incorporate energy conservation, environmentally preferable purchasing and green buildings into their day-to-day operations and policies. Local government operations in the mid-Atlantic region will serve as a national model in energy efficiency, operational savings and reduced impact on the environment and long-term sustainability.

What We've Achieved So Far
- Conducted survey of local governments' activities in the areas of energy efficiency, green buildings, green purchasing
- Created Powerpoint modules on energy efficiency measures, green purchasing and green building policies
- Gathered the names of local technicians who can assist with these efforts
- Educational events to 200 + attendees
- Secured $15,000 in grant funds for PennTAP to begin government energy auditing
- Identified 18 communities to work with LOGICS on energy efficiency and green buildings
- One Energy Audit Pre-Assessment and ENERGY STAR Benchmarking, City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Our Plans
- outreach to Pennsylvania state professional societies of counties and township administrators and elected officials
- document achievements as case studies
- replicate LOGICS in other parts of Pennsylvania and throughout the mid-Atlantic region
